North Carolina mom falls 150 feet to death while taking photos on family hike through Crowders Mountain State Park

A North Carolina mom plummeted to her death Saturday while snapping photos on a family hike.
Stephanie Stone Anderson fell about 150 feet from a cliff inside Crowders Mountain State Park during a Saturday hike with her husband and teenage daughter.
Park officials said the 48-year-old mom from Waxhaw tripped while she was taking a picture and teetered off of the cliff about 1:30 p.m.
"I don't think she was trying to do anything out of the ordinary. She just tripped and fell," Park Superintendent Larry Hyde said. "It's a pretty tragic incident."
Anderson’s husband and daughter suffered minor cuts and sprained ankles as they tried to climb down and reach her. She fell in a remote part of the park, making rescue difficult, officials said. Teams finally brought her down from the mountain about four hours after the fall.

Rescue teams located Anderson after she fell about 150 feet.

Anderson’s death is the first in the park this year. Last year, two people fell and died along the mountains: a man picking up litter and a rock climber.
